Thanks!
This pic rocks. You have my vote. The simplicity of it is what sells it for me. (Plus the DJ-esque hands moving, like you're doing some scratching on the notebooks or something.)

Hey people,
I'm trying to customize a wordpress theme for my own personal blog, but am confused about something. Every link I have that is an image has a brown solid line underneath it and a red bar at the bottom of it when you hover over it. I've tried getting rid of this by changing the a:hover img component in the css file, but not sure what I need to do to get rid of that red bar. Any ideas?
You can see an example of what I mean at www.beforethecubicle.com/photos

Has this been independently verified? Sounds like a bug to me. I have the same performance on both ports of my MBP.
Are you using the same MBP model range or is this an older one? Based on how the USB spec works I expect a shared line like they show on the link will certainly be slower.

My other machines fold, but that's cause they are at 36C and -22C.
iMacs are scary.

I installed Coolbook on my 13" just now. Will see how that goes. Any one else use Coolbook, what settings did you choose.
edit: 12 hours later; Coolbook solved the problem. Roaring fan noise gone. Was easy to install and set up to!

That's a tough call and a personal decision involving the trade off between power and portability.
Which would bother you more:
-not having a computer with you during the occasional times you travel, or
-not having the power of the iMac the majority of the time, when you're at home?
Personally, I think sacrificing the power of the iMac just so I had a laptop for the infrequent times I travel would bother me more. I prefer to purchase the type of computer that I need the majority of the time.
Of course, this is only valid if the difference in power between the MBP and the iMac you're considering is significant enough to notice.

TiddlyWiki (http://www.tiddlywiki.com/) is a beautiful wiki, written in javascript, and contained in a single html file. I stopped using it because it reports a javascript error in IE (windows - it is intended to be used with firefox though). I really liked the off-shoot GTDTiddlyWiki (http://shared.snapgrid.com/gtd_tiddlywiki.html), but haven't found an update to correct the javascript error (which was being caused by uppercase DIV tags and id's without quote marks. grrrr)

hi im working in fce and having a problem. when exporting the footage doesnt match the timeline. works fine through the canvas view. any thoughts?
You're going to have to be way more specific for us to help you. What kind of machine are you running? What are you export settings? Timeline settings? What kind of footage are you working with? And in what way does the export not match the timeline?

Could be a sign of a failing HDD. Make sure you have a current backup.

Did you find that having external drives slows you down a bit when the MP accesses those drives?
I have a Mac Pro too, and at one time moved my iTunes library to an external disk...Every time I played music or movies, the whole computer would lag for several seconds until the drive "caught up to speed".
That's why I won't use external drives anymore - I just upgraded all my internal drives instead.

You like Linux or just Penguins?
Both... Some people tattoo dolphins and tigers and stuff. I wanted a penguin. Im not an experienced linux-user, but I found this on some linux-sites.
Guess I took it mostly for being a penguin fan ;-)

It seems a C2D 1.86GHz mobile CPU will do: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-Mac-mini-Model-A1176-Core-2-Duo-Processor/1178/1
As to RAM: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/mac-mini/
www.everymac.com is also a good spec resource.

I have a Mac Mini mid-2009 model, and I bought a Mini-display port to HDMI adapter to hook it up to my LED TV. I have used it over more than a year with XBMC with no problem.
Now, yesterday I unplugged the Mini-Display to HDMI adapter from my Mini because I needed the adapter for a presentation on my Macbook Pro.
Now when I returned home and plugged everything back as it original was, the HDMI output stopped working! TV says No Signal. I checked with different HDMI inputs on my TV. none worked.
I hook up my Macbook Pro with the cable and it works.. So is my Mac Mini suddenly broken!?

what is the different between
+(void)blabla;
and
-(void)blabla;
what the - and + do?
thanks!
- sends the message (method) to a particular instance of your class (object), whereas the + sends the message to the class itself.
So an example of a class method (+) would be with NSString.
[NSString stringWithString:@"test"]; //this is a class method
An example of an instance method (-) with NSString.
NSString *mystring = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:@"test"]; //creating my instance
[mystring compare:@"test"]; //this is an instance method
+(void)blabla;

I'd say get it refurbished or don't bother, $200 is way to much for that tech now in my opinion. I think you can find other premium routers for much less.
I think it's in the Apple refurbished store at the moment, but if not I think Best Buy sells it online for $10 cheaper refurbished ($119).
The only reason to wait would be if there were some new wireless protocol coming out, but you'd hear all about it long before it made it into Apple's product line. 5 Ghz n seems to be the standard for the foreseeable future, so no danger in it being outdated.

try the 2 finger swipe. place 2 fingers together and swipe upwards. I've had this occasionally happen to me browsing some websites and the 2 finger method tends to work about 80% of the time for me.
