You can install 4GB but only 3.3GB will be visible to the OS.
Does that mean the system will only utilize the ram it sees or will it use all 4gb?

I had a PC with a Virgin supplied Netgear N series router. I've still got the PC which my 6 year old uses, but have since (and finally) moved to an iMac which works fine with the Netgear router. I've also got an iPad and iPod Touch which connect fine to the router (network name is cheekub). I've recently bought an Airport Expresss for a different room which is connected by a 3.5mm jack from it to a set of Apple Hifi speakers (this network is called test). The Airport Express router is used to enable me to play all the music on my iPod Touch wirelessly through the speakers. However to use my iPod Touch to access the internet or my iPad to play music on it through the Apple speakers wirelessly, I have to change from one user name to the other; chhekub or test in the iPad or iPod's settings which is a bit of a hassle every time. My main question is, how do I combine both routers/names to one, or do I need a second Airport Express to enable me to do this?

iPhoneExplorer is kinda buggy for me on a Mac. It was really buggy on Win7 machine but I hear it works pretty well on WinXP
iFunBox works real well on Windows and that's what I use on Win7.

Try resetting the PRAM (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238) since it holds some (limited) monitor settings.

okay, i had a listen to your track and some lil wayne acapellas.
two major differences stand out. the first is that your voice and his voice sound nothing alike. the second is that, for the couple tracks i listened to, he's recording in an actual room. you've killed all room sound by recording in a closet.
i'm not a fan of the yeti on your voice. mics are "good" because they match well on a variety of sources, or excel on a few, but no single mic is a good match on every source. you may want to demo a few mics and see if there's one that works better for your voice.
i'd also suggest recording in a real room, and maybe trying something like this (http://realtraps.com/p_pvb.htm) to keep some room sound, but not let it get out of control.
heck, for doing so on a budget, sing in the room but looking at the open closet, so the back of the mic is towards the clothing. play around with positioning and see if you can get something you like better.

Well, people can't even find the sticky thread at the top of this forum, so why would you need another one? :p

Okay I'm using the Lion Developers preview, all legit. When I try and open applications that I've moved from the Snow Leopard partition to Lion I just get a error telling me that the app could not be opened as it is not compatible. This happens with Apple products such as iWork and iLife, but some third party apps still work! Obviously this is not surprising and will doubtless be fixed, but will the whole OS be updated to be able to run these apps or will we have to upgrade applications separately in order to be able to run them :)

Very good question, I really liked it....I still call it the "Apple button" out of habit, plus then anyone using the machine knows with a quick.
I guess it makes keyboards more universal, but who really cares? If someone is running Linux or Windows on a Mac, I'm sure they can figure out what they Apple button equals in Windows)
But not a huge issue at the end of the day

I think asking where to download illegal software is against forum rules here as well. But yes, it would be closed even quicker at an Apple forum.
never asked for an illegal copy..

Motion just eats up your GPU. If you're doing heavy video editing, or even remotely serious, 15" is worth it.

Be careful- don't get too close. A spider-like creature may burst forth and attach itself to your face. Then a day or so later, a different creature will burst forth from your stomach. It will be virtually unstoppable and have acid for blood. :)

I was thinking about selling my early 2008 Mac Pro and getting an iMac... but realized that I really like having some expandability. So instead of selling for an iMac I decided to upgrade a couple things, boot drive and graphics card.
1. SSD. My main issues are figuring out the SSD. I've been reading threads about installing a SSD and frankly I'm a bit confused about some things. TRIM? Why do there seem to be so many firmware updates? Possible issues with Snow Leopard? A lot of you seems to like OWC and OCZ.
Would it be better to hold off on this until Lion comes out? I'm perfectly capable of doing a few things to get the drive working, so that's not an issue, but things like my computer not sleeping properly or something cause of it would be.
2. Radeon 5770. Should be simple enough. I think I'll just get the Apple one, don't really want to deal with flashing and other potential issues. Students get a little discount too... so it's not quite as overpriced.....
Will it be a nice upgrade from the 8800GT?
Hoping these upgrades will keep me happy for another couple years. I've actually been really happy with my system, but I think after I got a MacBook Air going to the Mac Pro seems sluggish with everyday things (and yes I know why). I also tried playing Half-Life 2 on Steam not too long ago and the 8800GT in my system sounded like a freakin jet taking off. lol.

Crossloop works pretty well. I've used it when I worked in a NOC and it works PC-Mac, Mac-PC, Mac-Mac, etc. Easy to install and it relies on a access code to share with the person you want to have access to your desktop.
