I have been working with Aperture 3 for a while. It occasionally freezes or crashes, but otherwise all is well.
Today however the 'adjustment' panel suddenly went empty: all I can see now are the drop down buttons for 'Presets' and 'Adjustments'.
I am not in 'Quick Preview'.
I have repeatedly restarted my computer.
I have restarted Aperture.
I have deleted Aperture preference files in the library.
I have repaired the Aperture library database.
Still no luck.
Any polite suggestions?
Thanks.

The purpose of the xmp file is for CS5 to remember what kind of changes you might have applied to a given raw file. It could be your crop, your exposure or color balance etc.
It comes in handy if you have been working on a photo and for some reason need the unedited raw. Now, if you kept the xmp file, you could go into bridge and open it straight away, however without an xmp file your image would be as it was capture by the camera.
In other words, if you on the first image changed the exposure, the color and so on before opening it, you might want to get that exact same setup again, and that is possible with an xmp present.
Or it could be because you wanted to copy the settings on a single photo to several other photos.
While I work on specific photo I like having the xmp, but I will delete it once I'm done.
I'm affraid I haven't looked into how to disable it as I find it quite useful :)
Regarding sorting and such... sort you file folder with "type" and the shift click to select the photos, or the xmps to delete them (a new one will appear once you change the settings of a photo in Bridge)

Either get an external ODD (around 20 to 30 ) or copy the .iso to a USB flash memory thumb drive via CarbonCopyCloner and boot from it.

Make sure you have a mac-intel and not mac-Gxx. Snow Leopard does not work on the Gxx
MacBook is intel (10.6 capable). G4 is PowerBook or iBook.

Well a centralized system for this kind of thing has never really existed, but should you create one, I can guarantee it would be put into CONSIDERABLE use.
For example, my motherboard is based on the nVidia Nforce2 Chipset. I just happened to stumbled onto the nforcershq.com website. A few days on the board, and my problems are solved. The board also attached "FAQ's" and general advice that they pinned at the top for newbies to read. I can definitely say that forums will always be more useful than tech support.

It isnt the dev teams fault that you rely on jailbreaking to get your apps ILLEGALLY, why dont you just buy them instead of creating a post venting your frustrations
Well, the OP didn't mention that he's jailbreaking his iPod for illegal downloads.
I jailbreak and I still pay for my apps, through the App Store or even through Cydia itself. There are just some apps that I need that requires jailbreaking (ex. ibluever-- tethering my phone's data so I can use the internet without needing Wi-Fi)... and yes I paid $5 for that app.

Hi designerz!
I'm starting a design company, unfortunately I have zero talent in design. So I'm looking for a designer that will do a logo for my company and do all the graphix I will need. You'll be mentioned on teh website and get a piece of candy every month!!! Plus you can tell everyone u work for teh coolest design company in the world.
Looking forward too many logo suggestions so I can pick the most talented person for me awesome company!! :D
It's the internet, so I better mention this is meant to be satirical ;-)

Looks fantastic, judging by the price and the MTF chart.
Now looking forward to the rumored update to the 85mm f/1.8.

Here's the perfect can for a coffee can antenna. The proportions are nearly perfect:
http://www.caffecalabria.com/tins.html
Damn good coffee, too. I highly recommend the Calabria Blend.
I've built a couple of these.
Get a USB wifi adapter that has an antenna connector - the Alfa brand is excellent and inexpensive. The wifi adapter is small enough to just plug directly into the connector on the coffee can. This avoids a coax cable and resultant cable loss. You can use a reasonably long USB cable and it will work fine, without the signal loss from a long coax cable.
Forget about Pringles cans - they are bunk - the inside of the Pringles can is NOT metalic.
Use the basic "Yuban" design, but use an online calculator to determine the feed-point for the Cafe Calabria can (or similar-sized can.) The longer, skinner can will work better than a fat Yuban can.
I epoxied a nut to the side of the can, so that it can be mounted on a mini camera tripod.
I drilled a hole in the can for the female N connector that you solder the feed wire to. I picked up a metal SMA to N adapter (NOT a cable, but a solid adapter.) That way, the wifi adapter just hangs off the side of the can.
Here's the wifi adapter. Actually, it will probably do a pretty good job without the cantenna. I took my cantenna out on the balcony and can pick up 200+ signals from around the neighborhood and as far away as across San Diego Bay, a couple of miles. They have a number of models, ranging up to 2W power. I haven't heard good things about the 2W model, though. Stick with 1W or the 500mW model that I used.

Do i have to sign up somewhere?
Go into the F@H client preferences, and under the identity tab type your nickname and 3446 as the team number. After you complete the first WU you'll start showing up on the team stats :)

I already have the Gevey Sim Card. My iPhone 4 now shows T-mobile as the cell phone carrier instead of Simple Mobile. I can make calls but the reception is a little spotty now. Do I still need to enter the MMS settings from Simple Mobile on my iPhone 4? The phone is not jailbroken, only unlocked with the Gevey. Thanks
