Hi : I just ordered the Refurb Mac Mini with snow leopard server...I want to know whether it will come with Snow Leopard server is preinstalled or i have an option to install the server only if i need...
I am new to Mac and want to just have a vanilla Mac OS and once i get used to it i want to install the server..
It should have server pre-installed.
Cheers

Recently, my mom came in while cleaning around my room, you know, just tiding up a bit. She unplugged my WD My Book Studio LX on accident, and quickly plugged it back in. Before, it was hitting speeds that it should normally hit, 800 megabits a second (FireWire 800). I did a verify of the disk, and tried to repair it, but got that the disk COULD NOT be unmounted. The disk is now trailing along at speeds of about 17 GB/10 minutes, which is only about 30 megabytes a second, when normally is should be around 100 megabytes (800 megabits) a second. I even restarted the computer, but haven't tried resetting the SMU yet, would that help?
If you have had any past experiences that you have resolved, PLEASE, tell me below, and I'd gladly appreciate it! (:

This puppy would crank some bigadv units like no other (http://www.dell.com/us/en/business/servers/poweredge-c6100/pd.aspx?refid=poweredge-c6100&s=bsd&cs=04) with 8 - 6 core cpu's and space for 4 gpu's. Only problem is it would cost over $20k  Maybe in 6 or 7 years I can afford to get a used one :p
It would be nice if Apple made something similar, dig a little deeper into the corporate computer room.

Steve Rosenbaum needs to learn how to use spell/grammar check. I've come to expect "loose" instead of "lose" and other spelling/grammar errors in forums, but this is an article on the Huffington Post. I got a little more than halfway through before I had to close the tab.

I know that the AppleCare Protection Plan is widely regarded as a must buy in the Mac user community and I'd like to not discuss the merits of that in this thread, but I'm curious to hear of those brave souls who didn't purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan for their Mac and then had a need for it.
I don't have any experience with this situation myself even though I've been using Macs since '93. Of the 3 Macs I've owned only my current one needed a repair outside the standard 1-year warranty, it needed the logic board replaced during it's 3rd year and was covered under the AppleCare Protection Plan that I purchased. So, if you'd be so kind:
What did you need repaired?
When did you need it repaired?
Where did you have it repaired?
How much was the repair?
What Mac needed to be repaired?
Thank You.

Ahh I see. So the minimum size that any file in OS X can be is 4 KiB (4*2^10 bytes) regardless of how little data it contains?Nah, the file is whatever size it is, ie. smaller, but it uses up a full 4KB "spot" on the disk.

Thanks. Any 7200rpm ones?
Unfortunately not. Those are all 14(.2 I think)mm height and will not fit in a MBP.

Thanks for your answers, I reformatted the stick and all seems well.
@GGJstudios: I wasn't worried about my Mac, I was primarily worried about carrying that thing onto other (Windows) computers I would connect my USB stick to. Not really necessary, is it?
Yeah, I know there haven't been any Mac viruses out there yet, I've actually never had an anti virus programme installed in the four years I've been using Mac. But since I couldn't get rid of the files, I thought Sophos may do the trick. Well, turns out it didn't. Thanks for the link though, will definitely check it out.

That's strange. You seem to be abiding the dual channel rules. I suppose just try experimenting removing first the Kingston RAM and leaving the Apple/Samsung, and then switching the process and seeing how that turns out.

I have a cheap Bytecc external case. (Oxford 911 chipset) It has both firewire and usb2. I put a harddrive in one and a Lite-On DVD burner in the other.
Both work great for windows and mac.

iTunes #1 but it adds up! Great place to find exclusives and live recording sessions. For sampling whole songs, I'll use Limewire.

Those type of settings are typically part of a printer driver. I am assuming your home printer and school printer are different, that could be your problem.
As a start, what printer is at home, and what is at school (ie if you have an HP printer at home, missing the Epson page setup is unsurprising).
I figured it out,
I guess my epson printer drivers suppost acrobat 9 and not 10.
The settings are back to normal when I installed 9.
Thank you guys anyway! :D

I decided to buy mini server cause i thought it was a better deal than regular mini. I don't need the server part. So when lion comes out it will install on my mini server just like the regular mini, without server apps?

Hopefully the other 2011 models will soon follow. I had a suspicion it would be soon since the MBP no longer have the "new" icon when you enter the store.
Edit: Obviously the Title should say MBP instead of MPB
Second Edit: Guess I was a bit late to the party http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1140219&highlight=2011+refurbished

Without the power button, you'll have to erase the settings to clear your phone. Or restore in iTunes.
Your phone must be functional to enter DFU.

i'm glad i didn't pay for it...
you can only defrag and make password protected volumes on mac formatted ipods.. i have mine windows formatted so that i can use it for file transfers... oh well, send to trash...
reality
Is that not stated anywhere on the download screens??
Gonna be a lot of unhappy downloaders.

It seems odd that there isn't a Tips, Help and Troubleshooting sub-forum for the iPod Touch when there is for the iPad and iPhone, and I think that the Touch forum is more popular than the iPad forum.....

Don't do it, I've recently run into circumstances where a used mac I purchased from ebay, from an account that's 4+ years old, active, and very highly rated, may actually be stolen. Not worth it at all in my opinion.
