Hello all,
I've been having the typical beachball and freezing issues that plague some of us that have decided to put an SSD in our MacBook Pros. After reading that Apple had released a different part number for the HDD cable (922-9062) I decided to check mine and see if I had the newer one. I did not, it was 821-0814.
I ordered a new cable from iFixit with the PN of 922-9062 listed on their website and received a 821-0814 cable. iFixit customer service says Apple does not change their part numbers externally on the device and that I in fact have a 922-9062 HDD cable now.
Can anyone confirm/refute this? Has anyone seen a 13" MBP HDD cable with 922-9062 printed on it?
This is NOT a thread intended to bash iFixit. They have been very good to me and I will continue to give them my business. I'm just hoping they're wrong in this one instance and I have a shot at getting my MBP to play nice with my SSD. :(

It could be an issue with the HDD holding your home folder. Did you try re installing OSX to a different drive?

When I type in Safari or Atomic or even click links there is about a 1 second delay, which is huge. Is this happening to anyone else? It started a few weeks ago and the update didn't help.
What kind of a phone do you have and what iOS version are u running?

First post in the forum, long time reader.
Own a MacBook (late 2008) unibody and have had two things happen. The computer is lagging/getting slower and the battery is losing its health. About right for 25 months old. Anyway, found the Intel 320 series X25 160GB SSD online at a decent price and bought it. Used my time machine backup and installed the SSD in my laptop this morning. Took about 2 hours to do with around 120GB files total.
So far, it is at 120GB of its 160GB available and I may decide to lose some more files - we'll see. My original hard drive was 250MB but I partitioned it and used quite a bit for bootcamp. Anyway, 2 wonderful things have happened.
For the first time in 2 years, the battery indicator is showing 4hrs remaining - the SDD must truly draw less power and this thing is wickedly fast. The machine boots up in 25 seconds and any application I start - loads in less than 2-3 seconds. For example, MS Word 2011 - you see the little banner and bang the whole thing is on and loaded. Lovin it. Just added another year worth of life to this computer - very snappy. (did notice the S-ATA speed is 3GB and not 1.5GB as was the OEM hard drive)
My question for the forum - (taken from system profiler)
Why is capacity marked 209GB and my drive is only able to access 159GB? What is the extra for? Am I missing something? First time with SSD.
Thanks

Whoo the iMacs are impressive. What speed are you averaging on the computer? I just added my brothers computer to the Macrumors folding.
I just started it today, so I have no idea. I'll see later next week how things go since I'll be putting my dual 1.25 back on the job after it finishes rendering this weekend.

Hi, I'm just wondering the Atomic cases like the hybrid are any good. Where is the best place to buy them?
thanks!
I have a hybrid and love it - just buy it from their website!

For your text ( #membershipcontent ), remove the "position: relative" and/or "left: 285px"
Think of relative positioning as a "nudge" -- the browser does most of the rendering and then moves any elements relatively positioned by the number of pixels you tell it. In your case, 285px on the left which bumps it to the right.

Anyone try any cases by this company? I was recently given a free test unit, and I was surprised at the quality of the fit. It's a silicon case, but a very firm silicon, and is a much better fit than the Switcheasy Colors case. All the buttons are covered, too. It's a pretty nice case, I'd say it's definitely nicer than Switcheasy's, which disappoints me.

My 12" iBook arrives today, and I feel that it is a much better deal than the 12" Powerbook right now. The Pentium M processor is great, but the iBook (for my tasks anyway) is more limited by video card right now than by processor, and I'd bet the Pentium M versions would be the same way. Pick one up soon, and you won't regret it.

I tried to read the article, but couldn't come away with anything as mind blowing as the title. Perhaps it's that Finals-Week state of mind...
Can someone sum up in two lines what's so cool about this, and what the possibilities are? From what I read it sounded like they made a better PDF file...
Tyler Z.
I think this kind off document would be usefull in big companies. I used to work at a bank where I needed to delegate invoices. The invoice had a lifecycle of:
central incomming invoices => delegation to departments => send to proper financial directors => sign or deny invoices => possible 2nd sign => go to financial department => include in financial book => pay => archive invoice
I would imagine that if you can make a single electronic document that represents only the required data for each user, this process can be greatly optimized.

Anyone know any good books that talk about the history of Apple. Looking for something that's a good read that goes into some of the behind the scenes info.

With the problematic firmware, did refreshing the websites cause the images to eventually load properly? This sounds like a problem I had with a RV042 and some windows boxes. I didn't have time to screw with it and instead swapped it with a known working router.

What if I have the original SIM that came with the first gen iPhone still installed in the phone. Can I just re-activate that or do I still have to buy a new SIM?

you can also try booting to verbose mode to see if something is hanging (hold command v and turn the computer on)
